Why would users choose to use my product?
Frankly, everyone is busy, and time is precious. Ultimately, there are only a few core reasons why people use what you create:
1. You make my life easier. Perhaps something used to take me an hour. With your product, a couple of clicks, and it's done in 5 minutes. What couldn't I do with those 55 minutes saved? Take accounting software, for example: I don't have to use a calculator and Excel myself; you've handled it all, and I just need to input the data. That's value.
2. You save me money, or you help me make money. For instance, a price comparison tool: I scan with it before buying something, and it helps me find the lowest price, saving me real cash. Or, you provide a platform where my talents (like painting or writing) can be seen by others, who are willing to pay, and you help me earn money.
3. You enable me to do things I couldn't do before. Think about photo editing apps. Many people aren't professional photographers or designers, but with these apps, they can easily edit beautiful photos, post them on social media, and get lots of likes. You give ordinary people a new "superpower," allowing them to achieve ideas that were previously difficult or impossible.
4. You make me feel better and happier. The most typical examples are games and various entertainment apps. When I'm tired from work or stressed by life, your product allows me to relax, immerse myself in another world, and find pure joy. Scrolling through short videos or reading novels works the same way. It might not be "useful" in a practical sense, but it provides emotional value.
So, you can reflect on this:
Which of the above points does what you create truly hit? Does it help people "save time," or "save/make money"? Does it give them "new abilities," or does it provide "emotional value"?
And most crucially: Your solution must be significantly better than their current one.
People have inertia. If your product is only slightly better, most people won't bother switching. You need to reach the point where they exclaim, "Wow, this is so much better than what I used before!" Only then will they have a strong incentive to switch and stay.
